As you may know, we are currently in the year of St. Joseph. But what does this mean? To put it simply, the Pope has dedicated this year to reflect on St. Joseph and receive special indulgences for devotions to this great saint. But why now? |
The Year of St. Joseph began on December 8, 2020 and will end on that same day in 2021. |
Let’s circle back to indulgences. What are they and what special indulgences are offered this year? God is so generous that he multiplies the merits of our good works. An indulgence is essentially this, a devotion that is super-magnified.
To be more specific, indulgences remit us of the temporal punishment due to sin. In other words, this means we won’t need to go to Purgatory as much and potentially not at all.
What’s really cool is a lot of the special indulgences offered this year are plenary indulgences. These completely rid temporal punishment up to that point. In other words, if you are detached from all sin and receive this, you pass Purgatory and go straight to Heaven!
By praying any approved prayer or devotion to St. Joseph on March 19, May 1, the 19th of each month, and every Wednesday, you may receive a plenary indulgence!

You must also receive Holy Communion that day, go to Confession within 20 days before or after, pray an Our Father and Hail Mary for the Pope, and have a sincere detachment from all sin and a desire to never sin again.
“Saint Joseph, our father and lord, is a teacher of the interior life. Place yourself under his patronage and you’ll feel the effectiveness of his power.” - St. Josemaría Escrivá
Dear Parishioners,
Our church bulletin is in need of advertising sponsors. The bulletin is distributed weekly to those that attend mass in person, it is emailed to those on the email list and it is posted on the church's website. It's a great way to market your business, build awareness of your business, and show your support for our parish.
Advertising in the church bulletin comes at a relatively low cost compared to television or newspaper advertising. Ads may be paid quarterly or annually.
If you or a person you know owns a business that would like to advertise in our bulletin, please have them contact the church office at 956-726-9488 (Nina ext. 15) or forward them this email.
Thank you and have a blessed week.
